Christmas came and went and now so has 2002. What a year! There were some good things and some bad things that happened: like getting a job and then getting laid off from that job and now having a new job; working for myself from home (I think that falls under both good and bad)... and a whole bunch of other stuff. Take a look at some of the postings from last year in the weblog archive.
Oh, guess what Cooper and Kristen got me for Christmas?! An ORIGINAL Nintendo Entertainment System (NES)!! Ahhhh suky-suky!! Hours and hours of Super Mario (2 and 3 as well) and Contra and Super Contra.

Energy 92.7 Is no more
I'm more than a little disturbed at the fact that the radio station WDEK Energy 92.7/92.5 went off the air at about 11:50pm last night. For two years they played dance music - all sorts. Yes, it was mostly your club-friendly stuff but it sure beat B96 (96.3) and to a lesser extent Kiss FM (103.5). It's no secret I'm into that fresh teeny-bop pop music but I can only hear Nelly sing about how hot it is so take off all your clothes and now he's got this ridiculous song out there called Air Force Ones. It's a song about how they love their sneakers! ugghhhhh!
See what I mean? Terrible music. I found it fitting that Energy played "The Launch" by DJ Jean as it's last song since it was also the first song that they ever played. Bah!! Now I really need an iPod for the car.
Huh?! What a LONG and tiring weekend this was. I worked for over 35 hours this weekend on e˛ stuff (we REALLY need to redo our site). Must get more sleep...
One more thing: this article in Fortune magazine is a FASCINATING read into the Winnie the Pooh merchandising rights. Well, I thought it was fascinating - you might not. But you will most likely agree with me that it is a long article. I did read it all, though.

Yesterday in a little over 3 hours I put together a new look for e-Squared Consulting... Eddie and I agree that it looks better already. There will be more today with it but I no longer feel embarrassed by the poor design. And the logo no longer looks like the Internet Explorer icon

Welcome to Tuesday. Oh how exciting!

I had to "fix" my weather thingy AGAIN! Apparently, the fine folks at weather.com feel the need to keep renaming their CSS class names. This of course messes up my "borrowing" of content from them. "But I will not be held down by their tyranny!" I say. Within a matter of minutes I had it all working again.
I've been posting a lot lately, haven't I? mmmmm work
challishodge.com looks an awful lot like the old HumanContext site. Unfortunately, I can't find a cache of it anywhere on google. Ehhhhh who cares.

I've had enough! E-NUFF of the sun blinding me as I drive to work each day. Eddie ordered some "simulator" sunglasses from The Sunglass Shack and they looked pretty good so I thought that I would treat myself to some protective eye-wear. I decided on the Ray-Ban® Orbs® Titanium Oval Sunglasses. Without actually being able to hold onto them and assess them from that perspective I had to base it all on "would I wear these?" and I guess the answer is "yes, yes I would wear these I suppose." (I eNjoy talking to myself). If you decide to order anything be sure to mention you were referred by yahoo@tastypopsicle.com. $5 off my next purchase if you do it - thanks!
Working on adding some features to tastypopsicle.com. The most recent rant is now on the home page. Click the title to read more. I am in the process of adding the message boards that have recently had posts to them as well. That will take more time and I often have bigger fish to fry.

Minolta-QMS 2300DL
Good morning and happy Sunday to all. Gonna be a busy work day today. It should be good though since it's been a lax weekend so far. e-Squared picked up a color laser printer yesterday. A Minolta-QMS 2300DL BUT we can't ge it networked - curses!! The parallel port works, though, so we were able to get some printing done. Looks as if we'll be heading back to Microcenter this afternoon to exchange it or return it. Gotta have the networking otherwise it's not worth it.
Amy's at school again today. This is the last week of classes so it's crunch time. Another semester closer to getting married...

Stardust 3 is this Sunday 19 January 2003. Ehhhh don't know if I'll make it - I remember Stardust 2, though. Whew... was it HOT!
It's a topic that's being discussed in the mmmmmm Fridays message board - thanks Jeremy for the info on that one. Maybe you'll want to check it out. Maybe you won't. Like I care what you do, right?
Jeesh! Why the pressure?
Worked on the e-Squared Technology News today. Now it pulls the tech news in from CNet News instead of the not-so-techy Suntimes. Shibby!

Not too shabby, huh? I told you I was going to be making some needed improvements with tastypopsicle.com and I believe I have. FINALLY you can see which message boards have new messages right away on the home page so you don't even have to go to the message board page to find out - bunch of lazy bums! Just kidding...

And you see the rant is there (and I see no one has commented - good, very good).
I'm done working on tastypopsicle.com for awhile now. I have other things I need to accomplish. I hope you eNjoy the new features. I know that I do.

Things with e-Squared sure are getting interesting... and I mean that in an anxious sort of way. Amy is *almost* done with this semester! Whoo hoo! Friday is her last day and I kow that we both are looking forward to it. We'll be able to rest and relax just a little bit more. However, Friday night I will be attending a Blackhawks hockey game with Amy's father and a few other guys. A sort of "guys night out" if you will. Shoud be a lot of fun. We did this once before and I had a good time.

I just saw this article @ chicagotribune.com: Man tries to sell family on eBay
Go Hawks!
"As a fortysomething freelance writer trying to make a living in a town that prefers hip and sassy wunderkinds, Young has had to come up with some pretty creative pitches to get writing jobs to feed his wife and children."
I think it's a great idea - especially for $5million. Hell, I'll sell myself for a coke and a Big Mac. It's only for an hour though. After that I expect some fries at least - oh, and train fare.Go Hawks!

Good Sunday afternoon to all. Here's something you don't say too often - "My thumbs hurt." Kristen and Cooper came over and spent the night. Cooper broght his PlayStation 2 and I got to play PS2 for the first time last night. I played Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for quite some time. I *think* I was doing ok. I was able to do a fatality which even suprised me.
"Must play more," say the voices. I was dreaming video game last night. That can't be good, right?
Looks cold out there today so bundle up if you're heading out. As for me - game on.
BTW - Hawks lost the other night - 4 to 2 against the Vancouver Canucks. I had fun either way.

So much has happened in the past 24 hours. I mean, nothing BIG but a bit has happened. Glenn and I have been discussing game emulation - like NES and SuperNES etc... etc... It appears that with a program called Kaillera you can host your own gaming server and then play against other people anywhere in the world in games like Contra, RC Pro AM... virtually any Nintendo game. I'm also interested in this arcade emulator called Kawaks. Take a look at the screenshots.
Last night Amy and I saw Gangs of New York - a movie based on a book with the same name. Although it is a 3 hour movie, I think we both eNjoyed it a lot. I know we were just happy to get out and see a movie again. Ahh... I'd still like to see Just Married, though - it's one of those "stupid-funny" movies(?) maybe.
Ripping A LOT of music into mp3s on the 2nd machine at work. We've built up quite a collection. It'll be good when it's time to burn some mp3 CDs of all of them. Oh, and I think we're going on a "field trip" to MicroCenter in a little bit. mmmmm fun
I'm wondering if I should turn an old Mac Classic that I have into a functioning PC or a MacAquarium.

Fatty McFatass
Fat people beware! Fat isn't McDonald's fault, suit tossed out
I couldn't believe this story from the beginning - like most people I suppose. I LOVE what the judge says:
This story about a 4-winged dinosaur is a hell of a lot more interesting if you ask me.
Bah... I gotta get some work started. Yes, I said started.

''If a person knows or should know that eating copious orders of supersized McDonald's products is unhealthy and may result in weight gain ... it is not the place of the law to protect them from their own excesses,'' the judge said. ''Nobody is forced to eat at McDonald's.''
Suing because you ate too much fast food... boo hoo. Should have saved the money you just spent on the lawyer for the lawsuit and used it to call Jenny Craig. This story about a 4-winged dinosaur is a hell of a lot more interesting if you ask me.

I'd vote for Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computers if he ran for president. Unfortunatley, he doesn't want to be president. I eNjoyed this part of the article:
And on another tech-note, I was sent 4 emails with viruses attached to them over the weekend. Now, I don't know who's to blame for this but luckily I use Norton AntiVirus so the messages were quarentined immediately without any damage to my system. Damn Klez!
Foster also said Jobs may have too many skeletons in his closet to survive a cutthroat campaign. As a young man, Jobs fathered an illegitimate daughter and reportedly dabbled in psychedelics.
"No president has ever admitted to taking psychedelics," Foster said. As opposed, of course, to cocaine, marijuana, booze and a host of other substances.
Tis true! From that article is an interesting article about the Mac being "Catholic." Interseting stuff, Wired."No president has ever admitted to taking psychedelics," Foster said. As opposed, of course, to cocaine, marijuana, booze and a host of other substances.

Believe it or not, my checkbook is balanced. I discovered where I had accidently made a subtraction - over a month and a half ago. Interesting...
Went and saw George Clooney's Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. It's an adaptation of the cult memoir of game show impressario Chuck Barris, in which he purports to have been a CIA hitman. Unfortuantely, even after the film you don't know if he really was a part of the CIA or if he's just a little CrAzY. Maybe both. What you do know is that he was a bit of a booze hound. For the $5 ticket it was worth seeing. Check it out if you have nothing to do.
e-Squared has virus information on the site now. I'm sure you can figure out how it got there. Eddie and I are trying to think what other information should be included on our site aside from the tech news and virus information. Any thoughts?
I thought I had more to mention - apparently not, though.
