What a long and tiring weekend. We went out to Mundeline to see Amy's family and celebrate like 5 birthdays that are going on around this time of year. One of which is Amy's! So, that was all day Saturday with grilling and eating and playing cards - it was fun but we were tired by the end of the day. We stayed at her dad's house that night because on Sunday we had plans to go to Six Flags Great America which is only 20 minutes from from Mundeline. Yes, it made getting there a little quicker, but my back and body didn't fare well as I had to sleep on the floor - never again.
Sunday was Great America with Alex, Jen, Cooper, and Kristen. We had a lot of fun even though I was cranky at times. We rode a lot of rides. Had a lot to eat and Amy even won a Squirtle Pokemon. It's always exhausting when you're at an amusement park all day so we crashed hard when we got home. It was so good to sleep in my own bed again.
This weekend is going to be another doosey. We have Bugged Out 2 on Saturday and then the Cubs game on Sunday. Not to mention it looks like it's going to be 45 degrees on Sunday! Damn!!

Ok... so things at DaVinci Software are kinda weird. And when I use the word weird I mean things like our president, Brian, announced he's GONE as of now. And the company is in the hands of our CFO and, get this, the guy who was at Expedior to help them transition into closing their doors. Coincidence? Some of us don't think so. We've code named this theory the "Grassy Knoll" theory and we think Pretty Boy has something to do with it too.
The company that we were merged with/acquired by/bought by - whatever in San Francisco, Liquid Thinking, is apparently going up shits creek without a paddle - or so we're told. All I know is that it's got people thinking and it's got people making sure their Monster.com resume is up-to-date, not to mention my own.
It's CrAzY right now. It'll be crazier Friday apparently when another "announcement" is made - aka Layoffs(?)
Anyone know where I can get a STEADY job?

DaVinci layed off about 8 people yesterday I'd say. The exact figures aren't in yet. I wasn't let go - I kinda figured as much. The company is reshaping its mission and I fit right into it with the background that I have. I won't get into it so much now because it's too much at this moment. We'll be relaunching the Web site in a couple of weeks.
It is going to be different.

What a wonderful night last night. I took Amy out for her birthday at a very nice place called Pasha. We had a couple of drinks before dinner and we talked about everything that's been going on. We had some wine with our dinner. It was a chardonney since we're both white wine drinkers. I think it was a La Barougue or something. I don't remember. Anyway, I had the duck and Amy had the Gnocchi. I thought both tasted very good. We passed on dessert since we both felt rather full. But our waiter insisted that we get something since it was Amy's 21st birthday afterall. So, he asked her what kind of shot she would like and Amy is quite fond of this green apple vodka that she got in Italy so he concocted something quite similar - only it was more than one shot each. Needless to say we were a little giddy and the train ride home was cute.
I had to make her cake when I got home and we ended up just falling asleep. I think the combination of the alcohol and the food made us very tired. So, I frosted her cake this morning and we'll get to sing happy birthday tonight when she gets out of class.

Bugged Out 2
So much to talk about. So little time.
I had to mention Saturday night, though. Bugged Out 2 got moved from Harvey, IL to Rockford, IL. Which means it was a half hour south of the city and then moved to an hour and a half northwest of the city. This also meant that we knew the venue was going to be way to small for the projected number of people. And it was. We got there at 11.30p and got inside around midnight. Seriously, not even 30 minutes later the party was SHUT DOWN! It was CrAzY nuts there. People were not happy at all. Our crew went to Aurora, IL to hang out for the night. But I just hope Njoy doesn't ever plan on throwing a party again. It doesn't matter, though. You can't have parties anywhere in Illinois it seems. Whatever. I'm through with them anyway. I'd rather hang out with my friends then pay $30 for 30 minutes of music.

Sunday was the last Cubs game of the season and we had tickets to it. We only caught like the last 4 innings but we saw Sammy hit number 63 out of the park. They were winning at first - but they lost. Oh well.
And in bizarre news, this girl I was seeing last summer died this past weekend I just found out. I don't even know what to think. I mean, I thought about us was in the past and I'd never hear from her again - and then this. I just hit me like a ton of bricks.
Oh, and work is great.

hee hee - it's been 1 year already! WOW! Time has flown by. It was a year ago today that Amy and I met on the brown line train on our ways to work. We consider this our special day so we're going to do something special. We're going to the Hotel Allegro in downtown just to have dinner and stay the night and have breakfast in the morning. Nothing too big but definitely very nice.
This has been a rather CrAzY week at work. I've been coding a lot and getting a lot accomplished for the project. Been putting in a lot of long hours at night. Hopefully it'll all pay off. One of the best parts about this week was getting our new laptop!! Whoo hoo!
It's a Compaq Armada500. With 28Gigbyte HD, 128mb RAM, 15 inch viewable screen (HUGE in comparison to any other laptop), CD-RW drive, built in ethernet, USB, infared, running WIN98. It's a Pentium III processor and I ran this program WCPUID to see what the actual speed is and it's a 700mhz processor - SWEET! I've been using it ever since we got it. It's been great for work. I don't even use my desktop any more because it's CRAP commpared to this...
BUT the big HUGE thanks go out to Tim for hooking us up with this great, great deal. Seriously, Tim, without you I don't know what we'd do. Thanks so much for helping us out like this. You're the best! And thanks to Cassie for driving you out to deliver it. We love you two!

Time for bed! It was a good weekend and a good day at the office. Nothing cool happened today but I did get to talk to my mom on the way home from work. Hi mommie! The family is good - we're just trying to set up plans to get home to Syracuse, NY for the Christmas holiday or around that time of the year anyway.
I helped Amy out tonight with her 2D home work. Essentially, drawing and tracing shapes out on some paper. I don't want to get into it. She's filling in some of them now and making some more. I've done enough for tonight. I've got a paper to write for her tomorrow about another artist. I did Andy Warhol's "Campbell's Soup Cans" for last week's paper. I'm thinking of something a little more straight forward this time. Go for someone like Matisse I think, maybe Renoir. Whatever. Something easy if I can. I have a busy night tomorrow. I'm supposed to get together with the neighbor for some stuff while Amy is at school. Which means I gotta get the paper done some time during the day - lunch? Maybe I'll just get up early and start it. That would be more ideal.
Lots to do when I roll my ass out of bed. So much time so little to do - strike that, reverse. Can never have enough Wonka in your day.

I've been working on my NEW and improved idea for tastypopsicle.com. You kids will like it. It's got color and layout and all that fun stuff. I'll be adding a lot more functionality to it so I can interact with the site more. But that's what I've been up to in my free time. There's no idea yet when it'll be live but keep your eyes and ears open for it.
Amy's younger sister spent the night last night. We watched our PPG DVD and played the PPG game. And there appears to be some sort of PPG quasi-marathon on now so that's what we're doing. I need to bathe, though. The girls got cleanedup and I've been a bum...

COUPONS COUPONS COUPONS!
What can I say - they're great! Except for cutting all of them out of the Sunday paper and then sorting them into their proper slots in the "coupon holder". It's amazing how much you can save over a short period of time. But who wants to read about coupons? I haven't had time to do much else although Amy and did go to some haunted houses on Friday with Tim and Cassie. One was really cool. It was in the middle of nowhere on some farm. It was done up all crazy and the actors were really good. It was a fun time, albeit, a late night. It was Friday, though, so why do I care?
A new week (actually day 3 of new week already) and the weekend can't come soon enough as usual.
Work is work. Life is life (with extra laundry to do). And that's about it.

Happy Saturday!
It's been a long week and often trying at times. I've been busting away on the project at work and it'll be pushing hard in the next couple of weeks as we enter November.
Thursday our friend, Jen, turned 30 so Amy and I met up at 4 Taste to celebrate her birthday. I think it's safe to say that just about everyone had a good time. Chad, you did a great job setting it all up. We had a great time!
It's Saturday now and we're supposed to be going out to a house party tonight. Who knows what's going to happen, though. We won't know for a few more hours I imagine. Don't forget to change your clocks tonight - back one hour. Damn daylight savings!

Nothing special about it. A little edgy I guess.
It's been a tight month since we've bought the new computer. It was necessary, though, I suppose. It can only bring about some good.
Amy and I are CrAzY busy - her with school mostly and me with work. A lot of late hours getting things setup right.
This weekend was good - good for the both of us. We took it real easy at the house party so we left kinda early as we were tired. It was good to see the gang, though, and we're sorry that we left as early as we did. Amy still had pictures to take so Sunday was the only day left. We went downtown and got some shots of the BankOne Plaza and then headed over to Navy Pier for shots of the ferris wheel - and of course to ride it.
It was my first time on it and it was nice. It was NUTS at the Pier!! Kids in costumes EVERYWHERE! ugghhhhhhhhhh! But we got dinner and had a drink and got to spend some time together. Much better.
