uggghhhhh computers are EVERYWHERE it seems!! Busy working on the MACs tonight. All of a sudden I come to discover Office X is no longer working on the iBook... hmmm why could that be?! I know it's booted but this is NUTS! I keep getting "Application unexpectedly quit" message. What to do! ehhh - nothing tonight. Too tired. Just upgraded the OS on the G4 to 9.1 so I could install OS 9.1 to use Photoshop 7.0 Will probably have to talk to Seth tomorrow about this CRAP!
So much to do so little time. I'll add to this in the afternoon.
FYI: Photoshop 7 BETA installs just fine on OS 9.1 - punk! You're all set for school now, Amy. It's gonna be a long time till this G4 sees OS X I do believe.

The weekend is ALMOST here. Saturday should be a lot fun after Amy gets home from school. It's her birthday party and hopefully many of our friends can make it out with us. The plans have been made and I had some fun making those plans... hee hee
Work is slower than in weeks past - which isn't a bad thing. e-Squared should hopefully finish this automated billing project for All For Doggies in a couple of weeks at most. It NEEDS to get done

We had a fun weekend for Amy's birthday get-together. Dinner at El Mariachi was very good and filling. After dinner we came back to our place and hung out with some of our friends for the night. Most people we rather tired though so we made the best of it. Sunday we drank all day long but with no effect (!?)... grrrrrr
And today is Amy's birthday! She turns 22 today. We don't have any big plans today because of school and work. We'll be doing something on Sunday as the 13th is our 2 year anniversary.
In other news : tastypopsicle.com will be getting a new host provider. I decided to use Readyhosting since they're $99 for a whole year as opposed to the $25 I'm spending a month. I can't say for sure how smooth this is going to go but I'm willing to give it my best shot. I don't think it'll be too bad since I only have a personal site that 4 people visit a day... I'll have to transfer my mp3s that are on electric ice and put them on the iMac I think - not that it really matters too much.
Gotta figure out what's going on with PrimeCo - my account STILL isn't canceled. Damn AT&T man - liar!

tastypopsicle.com is currently running on a new server with a new host provider. Readyhosting seems to be pretty decent so far even though they claim that up to 250 web sites can be hosted on each one of their servers - ugghhhh, I hope that my site doesn't run too slow. At least it's cheaper. I'll probably cancel my hosting through Interland by the beginning of next week.
VERY tired today as I was Amy's model for her photo shoot. I also took some pictures of her too. Although I was grumpy for the first two hours I warmed up to the whole thing once I woke up some more. Next time I will need coffee. 9am we had to be at the studio. I haven't had to do that in a LONG time... early to bed tonight hopefully.
Demo for the Adventist MD site needs to be mocked up for Tuesday. That'll get me a lot more hours by then
mmmmm work = money

Happy Anniversary!
It's been 2 years for me and Amy - 2 years ago today we met on the brown line train. Me on the way to the library and Amy on her way to work. Tonight is going to be a special night for us hopefully. We have reservations at the John Hancock Signature Room (the place on the 95th floor) and then we'll go up to the 96th floor lounge for some cocktails while we reminise.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Time to get some more work done while Amy does some homework.

What an AMAZING night! If you get the chance to go to the Signature Room - GO! The food was delicious and the wait staff was soooo friendly and it was just a great time. We were able to get a south side window seat. The south side is the best view if you're in the Hancock. A clear night and beautiful lights made for a night we won't soon forget. Yes, it is pricer than a McDonald's but it was worth it.
Our meal...
Appetizer: Smoked Washington Salmon | chive blini and hackleback caviar; crème fraîche
Amy's dinner: Red snapper | lobster and fennel ravioli with spinach; citrus leek beurre blanc
My dinner: Roasted Rack of Lamb | tomato, onion, cucumber and feta cheese; roasted garlic yogurt sauce
Dessert: a mango and vanilla mousse covered in a chocolate shell (they wrote Happy 2nd Anniversary on the plate and put a candle in it for us!)
We each had a drink before dinner on the 96th floor lounge. Had a bottle of Penot Noir with dinner and we shared a Sky High martini after dinner with dessert.

Apparently I will be starting a new job with Adventist in a couple of weeks. Yesterday I had my last interview and I guess it went as well as it was supposed to. I got the call early this morning from Glenn who let me know. Within the next week I'll be going in to fill out paper work and what not. It's exciting to think I'll be starting a full time job again but it is going to be a lot different. I've been so used to being my own boss and working my own hours from home. That's probably the one part about it that I'm not as excited about. But the salary and the fact that I'll have health benefits out-weighs it by a lot. I could use a check-up with a doctor and it won't hurt to get to a dentist as well (still not a single cavity EVER though).
My Alma Mater was mentioned on TechLIVE this evening. The Department of Defense is giving a nearly $36 million grant to Carnegie Mellon University's new Center for Computer and Communications Security, hoping that the grant will buy some better ways to protect sensitive networks. One technology in development would use face photos and fingerprints instead of passwords. Another technology uses artificially intelligent hard drives that know when to say no to intruders. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a good story on it.
BMX XXX, with all its controversy, is going to be a HUGE game I bet. While I don't have any game system, and this game certainly isn't going to make me want to rush out and get one, a lot of "kids" are gonna get it.
November 8th is 8 Mile. Amy and I are VERY excited about seeing this movie. Let me know if you're interested in seeing it with us.

Looks like they might have the DC Snipers in custody. Two people were arrested last night. I know I speak for many people when I say that I truly hope that the killers are off the street now. Maybe these people in Virginia and DC will be able to sigh a sigh of relief. Stuff like this always fascinates me.
The car hunting has progressed. I went to a couple of dealers yesterday and we definitely know that we want to get a VW Beetle GLS. And we really like the Platinum Grey color. We'd also love to have the sunroof and the heated seats. We're both excited that we'll be able to have a new, better running car than the 87 Escort.
Hello to my friends Malia and Josh in Hawaii! It's great to hear from you guys after so many years.
I caught a great documentary that was on the Sundance Channel this afternoon. Titled "Revolution OS" it spoke with the key people in GNU open source and the Linux OS. If you're a techno-dork like myself then you'll find it highly interesting.

I looked and I looked all around the Chicago-land area and in the end I believe we made the right decision. We purchased a 2002 Platinum Grey New Volkswagen Beetle 2.0L GLS from Liberty Auto Plaza on Saturday evening after being there for more than a few hours. When it was all said and done we got it for $160 over Invoice with 60 month 6.9% financing (thanks in part to Amy's dad co-signing). Unfortunately, with my job situation this year (or lack thereof) there was no way I could put my name on the car without having an even higher rate. 6.9 isn't a great rate compared to what other dealerships are offering - but we wanted the Beetle. I guess Saturn is having 0% for 60 months now but we knew that we weren't buying this car based on price. If that was the case I'd have a $8,900 KIA right now - but who wants to be seen in a KIA? The Beetle has a sunroof, winterized package (heated driver and passenger seats as well as heated windshield wiper fluid dispensers), and the Monsoon sound system that's popping up as an optional feature in many new cars. It was a unanimous decision not to get the 6-Disc CD changer since
1) it's a rear-mounted disc changer
2) it'd be cheaper to get an Apple iPod and turn all of our CDs into MP3s and keep that in the car
It's a great car and I love driving it. I'm definitely excited about driving this thing back and forth to work every day. If you want to see it come on over - we're keeping it locked in the indoor garage though.
Went to Amy's dad's house last night afterward and hung out there til 10:30p or so. Today, Amy helped out her mom and sister with the car by taking them out to the grocery store while I did some laundry and cleaned the bathroom.
Now, I'm watching game 7 of the World Series and Anaheim is looking like it might pull this off at the bottom of the 7th.

Yesterday I had to reboot the Tangerine iMac (a.k.a "TASTYradio") and now the stations aren't working! The QTSS is running just fine and the playlists are working too - however, because after I rebooted the iMac I got a new IP address I had to go into my code and make it all point to the new IP address. Even though I did all that I still get errors when I try to open up a stream to the radio service.
CURSES!
Busy, busy with All For Doggies. We have a lot of stuff that we're planning to do in the next few months. I just hope we have the time and energy to do it

The new car is great - I even washed it yesterday afternoon and wiped down the inside sine they had done a crappy job of doing it; Anaheim won the other night - it was a good game.
Back to work!
Ps. And in what I'm calling "Idiot News of the Day": Starving Zambians won't eat engineered corn. Ethics are ethics - I give you that - but, what the f---!? If your people are starving GIVE THEM FOOD!! Idiots...
