It was one year ago today that I married my best friend. Happy Anniversary, Amy. I love you.

The latest issue of Time magazine (the one with Illinois Senator Barak Obama on the cover) mentioned a few websites that I hadn't really heard about but are apparently some of the one's that people should be keeping an eye on for big things to come. I decided to take a look at one in particular... The one I immediately gravitated to was Pandora. Pandora is an internet radio station that helps you to discover new music based on your preferences. They help you get started immediately simply typing in an artist or song title and then Pandora "builds" a station based on that single criteria. While a song is playing you give it a thumbs-up or thumbs-down which helps Pandora to eventually deliver more music that you just like. What I also find interesting is that as soon as you give a song the thumbs-down it stops playing and goes to the next one. Pandora uses a small, flash based interface with easy to use simple functionality. They don't complicate the interface or the experience with any unnecessary features. One of the features that I have to try is sharing one of my stations or searching for shared stations. However, what I did look at seemed very easy to use.

I spent about 45 minutes last night adding an additional piece of functionality to my CTA Google Map. No longer are you limited to finding Bars, Chinese Restaurants, Coffee Shops, Free Wifi, Hotels, Pizza, Thrift Stores, or Wine and Spirits near a particular 'L' stop. I added a new option at the bottom of the list which I call "Choose your own adventure..." after the Choose Your Own Adventure book series published by Bantam Books between 1979 to 1988. After you select this option and you'll be able to enter any search term into the input field. Click "Go" and the results pop up in a separate window. This should make my Google Map mashup even more useful. Don't forget that you can bookmark a certain train line, like the Brown Line (just select the particular train line at the top of the station list). You can also bookmark a certain address like 1060 W. Addison St. Chicago, IL 60613 by entering it in the "Find an address" field. You can even combine the two like this.
