I've decided to open up the weblog archive. At one point is was closed off except to registered members due to an incident, However, that company has since closed its doors so they can just eat it. Use the search to find something that youmight be looking for. Maybe you'll find it.

The End of DST is Upon Us
Be sure to set your clocks back this Saturday night. You either get an extra hour to rock it out or you get an extra hour of sleep. Either way - you win. Unless you're in Arizona or Hawaii in which case you do not do anything except try to figure out what time it is in the rest America. Good luck with that.
Everything probably looks like this
Although a bit over my head, this story from the Telegraph is rocking the science world: Surfer dude stuns physicists with theory of everything. Many people who have headed over to read the story were expecting an article from The Onion but instead they found something much more profound (and not nearly as humorous).
39 year old Garrett Lisi has high hopes that his new theory could provide what he says is a "radical new explanation" for the three decade old Standard Model, which weaves together three of the four fundamental forces of nature: the electromagnetic force; the strong force, which binds quarks together in atomic nuclei; and the weak force, which controls radioactive decay.
FTA:
Lisi's inspiration lies in the most elegant and intricate shape known to mathematics, called E8 - a complex, eight-dimensional mathematical pattern with 248 points first found in 1887, but only fully understood by mathematicians this year after workings, that, if written out in tiny print, would cover an area the size of Manhattan.
E8 encapsulates the symmetries of a geometric object that is 57-dimensional and is itself is 248-dimensional. Lisi says "I think our universe is this beautiful shape."
What makes E8 so exciting is that Nature also seems to have embedded it at the heart of many bits of physics. One interpretation of why we have such a quirky list of fundamental particles is because they all result from different facets of the strange symmetries of E8.
Lisi's breakthrough came when he noticed that some of the equations describing E8's structure matched his own. "My brain exploded with the implications and the beauty of the thing," he tells New Scientist. "I thought: 'Holy crap, that's it!'"
As complex as it still seems it appears that Lisi has discovered something perversely simple and beautiful. I can't wait to hear more about his theory and what it could possibly mean about our own existence.

One level is about to end and another...
...is about to begin.
It gets more and more exciting and challenging the further I progress.
I <4 my OXO 3 Tier Shower Caddy
Yesterday Amy said she had a surprise for us. She was out at Linens N Things picking up some things so I had no idea what she could be surprising us with. When she got home she pulled out the OXO 3 Tier Shower Caddy and I knew instantly that I was going to love this product.
Personally, I think there is nothing better than a well designed product that makes your life easier and better. I've always felt that if you look in someone's shower you actually get a look into their soul. How much crap is everywhere? Is there any room to even stand in the thing? How clean is the shower? Would you even WANT to stand in it? Some people keep the most disgusting showers I have ever seen. I can't possibly understand how they must be comfortable cleaning themselves every day in something that is breeding new forms of bacteria. I shudder.
And just about everyone has some sort of shower caddy that hangs in their shower with various bottles of shampoo and body wash and half used bars of soap. These tend to be awkward and terribly messy. One wrong move grabbing for the conditioner and the whole thing could tumble sending creams and lotions everywhere while water sprays all over the place. But the OXO shower caddy solves all of these problems and more so I think it's ok to get a bit excited.
Take for instance the hold tight, non-slip hook that keeps the caddy securely in place. It fits nicely on the shower head pipe and it does not more. Add to it a suction cup panel with thirteen small suction cups and this caddy is not going to inflict any damage on our nice shower tiles. Simply Beautiful.
UPDATE: I had every intention of including an image of said product. Here's what got me drooling.

Chess Champion Gary Kasparov Arrested
Yesterday from the BBC News:
The Russian authorities have charged opposition leader and former chess champion Garry Kasparov following clashes with police in Moscow.
Kasparov has become more and more outspoken over the years. It's no surprise that he's finding himslef in a bit of trouble.
