I've decided to open up the weblog archive. At one point is was closed off except to registered members due to an incident, However, that company has since closed its doors so they can just eat it. Use the search to find something that youmight be looking for. Maybe you'll find it.

Before it is the end of the day I have to send out my deepest sympathies to the families that have felt a great loss today. At about 8:00 AM CT the space shuttle Columbia seemigly "disintegrated" in the air above Texas, USA. I watched a lot of it this afternoon. I was awake at 9:30 AM CT so I turned the TV and that's when I first heard about the tragic event. I don't know how far this will set the space industry back but it reminds me SOOO much of the space shuttle Challenger which blew up on assent 17 years ago. I was 8 then and I remember so much of that day. It's seems so bizarre.
Right now I'm feelin' - somber

Kasparov and Deep Junior tie in match number 4 of the Man vs Machine chess tournament. It was certainly a longer match than others and based on what I have read Kasparov played a solid game and forced a draw 20 moves before Deep Junior realized it. So the game play was slow after move 41 to 61.
Kristen, Cooper, and Nathan made it over to our place this past weekend. By the time everyone arrived it was already pretty late so we didn't do much Saturday night - we actually didn't do too much Sunday either - a lot of drinking, though, that's all I know.
I have a TON of work to do - how the hell I'll get it done is anyone's guess.
*sigh*

Game 5 is underway in the Kasparov vs Deep Blue Junior chess match. Hopefully Kasparov will pull in a win. As usual, the coverage can be followed at Wired.com. And there is another insteresting story on Wired today. A Teen Dies: Who Is Responsible? - The parents of a young man who committed suicide are suing a woman he met on an online discussion board that provides participants with detailed instructions on how to end their lives. They blame the woman for their son's death. WHAT?! Total nonsense if you ask me. And do you know what's even crazier? Suicide is considered a felony in South Carolina according to the American Association of Suicidology. What does that mean?! I don't understand. If you kill yourself in South Carolina you can be arrested?? You've gotta read the story to truly "appreciate" how stupid these people who are blaming this woman for their son's death sound.
"I truly believe that he would have been alive today, and probably happy, if not for ASH's intervention," she said.
Lady, look, I feel sorry for you, I really, really do. But maybe if you loved your son more he'd still be here today. Don't blame someone else. This isn't manslaughter - there's a reason why it's called suicide.

After playing Q&A tag with Readyhosting, my Web site host provider, I was finally able to develop a CMS for areas of my site - in particular tastypopsicle.misc at the bottom of the homepage. It pulls from a text file in my cgi-bin directory and then I can edit it using an HTML form, click save and the changes are saved right in the text file. No more having to download from my FTP site, make changes, and then upload the changes. I can do it all from the web.
Sweet!

Apparently, last night, right around the corner from where we live a man was arrested for leaving a baby in a car. The story goes Man accused of leaving baby in car in Uptown
The baby was left inside a car in the parking lot of Truman College, 4540 N. Broadway, about 2:30 p.m., police said.
Kinda CrAzY as that's so close to us. CrAzY stuff happens around that part of the neighborhood all the time.

CURSES! I should have stayed home today... The final match in Kasparov vs Deep Junior is today and it starts in about 20 minutes. Here's the kicker though, ESPN2 is covering the match LIVE - on TV!?! Curses!! I'd love to have watched it...
Maybe I can KaZaA it tonight to see if someone recorded it.
As noted by Mr. Robot on the homepage today, we (e-Squared) have purchased and received the Sony DSC-F717 digital camera off of eBay (brand new, though). It came with a bunch of stuff that definitely made it worth it's $1165.00 price tag. I'm excited to get home tonight to and get my hands on it and learn as much as I can about it. Finally, a really good reason to have Photoshop.

I received an email today at work from one of the Adventist Midwest CEOs that was about a story that he had read over the weekend about finding love. It's not any common story about high school love or meeting someone on the EL and then running down the stairs after her to get her phone number - no, it's about nursing home love, wheelchair love, love on the borders of life's end... I thought it was cute.
Today's agenda-
1. stay awake at work
2. haircut @ SuperCuts
3. get tickets to Friday's DieselBoy show at the Metro

The famous Demon Dogs - a hot dog stand under the Fullerton EL stop - could be closing at the end of this month. I have eaten there a good number of times and I eNjoyed it... I think it would be a shame if it had to close being as it's so famous. It's been mentioned on the Food Network many times whenever they have some sort of hotdog/fries special.
BUT on the other hand, the reason it would be closing is because the CTA is going to put the EL entrance on that side of the street to make it bigger and better.

Ugghhhh my site is soooooo slow!! And I can't even get the Chicago News to load up. CURSES! The big news today being the 21 people trampled to death on the south side of Chicago this early morning at a night club. Apparently, Mace or pepper spray was dispensed by a bouncer at the club after two women got into an altercation. The kicker was that there was only one exit - at the front of the club so people were crushed to death by those trying escape. GHETTO!!
Also, the US is planning on going to war with Iraq with or without the U.N. support - that would be a costly move. France is already wavering as an allie. You know what I found to be very interesting, though, France and others have a HUGE take in the oil reserves in Iraq and the Middle East. Unlike the US, they do not have their own oil so it all must be imported. Soooo... they don't want to fuel the fires of dicourse with Saddam. Otherwise, they'll be cut-off.

The chicago news is FINALLY working again. My apologies for anyone that might have cared.
*sigh*
A lot on my mind - a lot of thinking and searching. I hope I find what it is that I am looking for.
I'm very sorry.

People who know me know that I'm not a big gamer but some games come along that even I can't ignore - the new Mortal Kombat game for PS2 is one. The next will probably have to be the this new game based on the movie: The Matrix.
Richard M. Daley (aka "Mayor for Life") won re-elecation again last night. Yes, there was an election yesterday. Apparently only 34% of the people cared enough to vote - I was not one of them.
The wait is over. After four long years, the highly anticipated videogame based on The Matrix franchise is about to hit store shelves for all platforms at once.
Cooper - I expect that you should get it so we can play when I come over.Richard M. Daley (aka "Mayor for Life") won re-elecation again last night. Yes, there was an election yesterday. Apparently only 34% of the people cared enough to vote - I was not one of them.

I just came across some great MAC history via G4noise.com. In particular, I really like the drawings for the first Apple Mouse... I really think they are quite beautiful from an artistic view as well as just very radical thinking by Douglas Dayton and the other folks over at Apple in 1983. There are also a lot of drawings and prototypes available that just fascinate me. AND it was great to find out who designed the fist Macintosh icons and fonts - Susan Kare. Her website shows the icons and fonts as well as some good examples. I sooooo wish I could have worked on that team in '83!!
Right now I'm feelin' - excited

Ok, I just have to say that John Neave's site is just A LOT of fun! This guy made some pretty cool classic games using Flash... you can play Pac Man and Tetris and Simon and a few others as well. It's a good way to "waste" some time while you're "busy" working...
Be sure to check out the rest of his site as well. He has some interesting beer drinking games that you can play - you decide if you want to play them at work though
- eNjoy!

Just got back from my birthday lunch at Tuscany with some folks from work. Mmmmm stuffed shrimp and spinach. Yes, my birthday is tomorrow - don't forget! Amy didn't she got me a DOZEN ROSES if you can believe it. They are beautiful. I've had them here at the office for a couple of days already but I remembered to bring the camera in today to take some pictures. They will be posted shortly...
And here they are - 3 pictures of the beautiful roses that Amy had delivered to me at work on Tuesday. Thank you agin soooo much, baby...
Rose 1
Rose 2
Rose 3
Terrible, terrible, terrible! Mister Rogers died from stomach cancer today. Having grown up with his show and then moving to Pittsburgh for school I've always had a fondness for him and what he stood for. It's sad to think that he is no longer with us to share his warmth and compassion.
*sigh*
That's just too bad.
It almost makes it hard to say check out this Despair web site. You know those motivational posters you sometimes see hanging up in offices? Well, this company makes posters that are sort of the opposite. You really have to check them out for yourself. Some are quite humorous.
Also, check out Rustboy if you get a chance. This movie looks like it might be pretty cool.
