I'm sitting at home today watching some TV and doing some work while Amy is at the office for some work related bonding thing - or something like that. First, see the movie Barbershop by the way. I rather eNjoyed it. Now, I'm also surfing around the Net visiting some sites that I often visit which also happen to link to a lot of sites that I never visit. I've decided that this post will be a list of said sites that I think folks may eNjoy - some are rather interesting....
Like Letterman on Acid : the drawings are really, especially the little Winnie the Pooh
The Photo Friday Challenge : I thought Amy might like this one
You've probably heard of the "game" called "Dance "Dance" - here's "Flash Flash" that's the same priciple but you use your arrow keys instead. Good luck is all I can say!

Hello, Sony Ericsson? It's Ed.
Fun Sony Ericsson Easter Eggs - a few hidden games. I also found a web site for FREE ringtones for a lot of phones.
That Easter egg site got me thinking - I should add some "eggs" to my site. Hmmmmm... or maybe on e-Squared. Check out some of the other eggs on the site.
And speaking of cool cell phone stuff, I REALLy want a Bluetooth enabled MAC so that I can use my cell phone as a remote control for iTunes, the DVD player and much more.... why do you do this to me!? WHY?!
Right now I'm feelin' - sleepy

The pictures from Veronica's 30th Birthday Bash @ Kincade's on Sunday are now online. Eleventeen pictures total. eNjoy!
Also, do you need a new camera bag? We've got one of those for sale.
I'm sitting here at work listening to Bass Drive which I haven't done in months, whilst I wait for the evening winter storm to consume me. Oh joy is me. Speaking of Phat Beats - did you see that Apple is preparing a digital music service?

Apple Computer is preparing an online music-buying service for Macintosh and iPod users and is close to winning many of the licenses it needs from major record labels, sources familiar with the negotiations said.
mmmm Apples, iTunes, and iPods - OH MY!

I've never flown Delta Airlines before and I don't think I ever would irregardless of the fact that Delta Airlines is doing a test run this month of CAPPS II, the Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening System. I, after reading many articles, would have to agree that this system doesn't look like it could work and I am supportive of Bill Scannell's decision to boycott Delta.
And the U.S. (by which I mean the Republicans) were dealt a BAD blow today when Russia, France, and Germany said they will block a U.N. resolution to authorize war against Iraq. OUCH!! France and Russia both have veto power in the U.N. Security Council which would effectively kill the resolution. It's starting to sound sooo old, but if most of the people in most of the world don't want to go to war - then by the nature of a DEMOCRACY we should do what the people want. It's time to dismount the high-horse, Mr. President, and exit stage left. {curtain closes}
A boycott of Delta Airlines is being mounted in response to the airline's decision to test a controversial program that requires airline passengers to undergo background checks.
The airline is going to do credit checks, criminal record checks, and other checks. Who wants their credit report to torn a new one by Delta?"Every time a credit report is run on you, it hurts your credit rating," Scannell said. "Frequent fliers will not only have a nice thick Delta dossier, but a damaged credit history to boot."
United Airlines - heed the warnings. Don't even think about doing this. Visit http://www.boycottdelta.org for more information as well as a VERY in-depth (but very interesting as well) report written last year about CAPPS in which the writers' findings indicate that this system will actually make it LESS SAFER to fly than performing random screenings at the airport. And the U.S. (by which I mean the Republicans) were dealt a BAD blow today when Russia, France, and Germany said they will block a U.N. resolution to authorize war against Iraq. Wow... it's been a week already. And a busy and stressful (at times) one as well. After bringing the old Tangerine iMac (266mhz model - circa. 1998/99) loaded up the tastypopsicle.com website using Apple's browser, Safari, running OS 10.2.4 - and there were some problems. After looking at the code making some comparisons I realized that I had made a bunch of mistakes and Internet Explorer for the PC had been a very forgiving browser. BUT Safari is not as forgiving (which I guess is better). So, I made some adjustments, and fixed up the left-side-blue drawing problem that my site was experiencing on MACs. Now, the site looks and works well on PCs running Internet Explorer and MACs running Internet Explorer or Safari (I prefer Safari, though).
Yesterday I tackled the e-Squared web site. Not too many problems there (Safari does NOT like the «button» tag though!!). Made some changes as well as verified that the site is XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant and CSS2 validated. Important to keep up with standards if you're a technology company.
Adventist is keeping me busy and so is the AFD and KSI (hush hush) work. More to come with those two projects in the coming weeks.
My watch is busted, I was up til 2am trying to fix it. DAMN THING! Anyone know how to fix watches? Curses!

March 15th - the Ides of March. Do you know the story behind it? As a Latin student in high school we studied and learned a lot about Julius Caesar (pronounced ul-E-us kI-zar in Latin). Try translating the works of Caesar some day, good luck. Anyway, the Ides of March has always been more significant than say the Ides of April. Ides just means the 15th. So the Ides of March is the 15th of March. But, this is the day that Caesar was killed by his cohort, Brutus. that's where the saying "Beware, the Ides of March" comes from. Kinda interesting when you think about it.
Whatever.
What else? I don't know - we might be moving it looks like. Out to the 'burbs! We'll be paying $100 less a month but we'd get 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. HuH?? The property is owned and managed by the same place where we live now. The move-in special at the new place is 2.5 months rent FREE. How can we say know? I'll know better in the next couple of days, though.
Tomorrow's St. Patrick's Day. Whoopity doo...

AHHHHHH! I just finished reading a HILARIOUS interview with Steve Burns - you know, that guy on Blue's Clues who wore the green striped shirt, the new guy, Joe, I don't know what color his shirt is - on The Morning News.
I am officially announcing my love for The Morning News site. After seeing this Japanese site (c/o TMN). Ahhhhhh my belly hurts now. Fisheye lenses are FUN!
Oh, and did you happen to see that Chicago had BEAUTIFUL weather this weekend? Sunny and high 60's and I think it even hit 70 in some parts. I know I eNjoyed it!

I remember when I ordered my Tangerine iMac (the 266mhz model).
4.5 years later I STILL use it. A few months ago it was a Quicktime Streaming music server. I had 3 "stations" running on it playing a preset list of songs over and over again that you could access through iTunes or Winamp on any computer connected to the 'Net. It wasn't the best, probably because of the upload limitations that my cable modem provided, but it was fun to put together. Then it sat there collecting dust for a few months until just 2 weeks ago I dusted it off and brought it in to the office.
Today, I use the Tangerine iMac for small Photoshop and Illustrator needs - as well as testing web sites for Mac compatibility. It's too bad it's the end of the road for it, but I think it was time.
Congratulations, Apple. You made one hell of a machine.
Five years after debuting the original iMac, Apple Computer has stopped selling the gumdrop-shaped machine to the public.
I bought it my senior year of college. I NEEDED a new machine badly. We were doing Adobe After Effects stuff but none of the machines we had were fast enough to render the movies. The iMac wasn't a top-of-the-line machine but it was still good - and it was affordable. I think it cost me a little over $1200 at the time (I'd be lucky to get $200 for it now). It did its job and it did it well.4.5 years later I STILL use it. A few months ago it was a Quicktime Streaming music server. This Konfabulator stuff for OS X is driving me CrAzY! It's helping me to realize a couple of things:
1. I don't have a good idea of my own, and
2. Even if I did I don't know nearly as much about JavaScript as I would like to think
I've been looking at some of the widgets the last couple of days and these people put A LOT of time into these things.
*sigh*
I want my OWN widget... but I need something compelling to make. This stuff has me very captivated. Maybe if there was a widget that updated content on a site or something. That would be cool. But how??
We ordered a new monitor from MacMall the other night (along with an Airport card for the aging iBook as well as a 48x12x48 firewire CD-RW). It's a Formac DIGITAL display using the proprietary ADC plug. No more CRT displays for the G4. All of this means I will be updating the G4 to OS 10.2.x by the end of next week.

Fibonacci Sequence
Am I a dork? The answer my not surprise you. I'm listening to BT's "Rare and Remixed" CD-2 and one of my favorite songs came on - "Fibonacci Sequence" which got me thinking. So I did some googling. The Fibonacci Sequence, the Golden Ratio, Golden Rectangle, the Fibonacci Shell - all are related and each is fascinating to me. It's not like this is my first time being exposed to the Sequence (that's what I'm calling it now). I just never realized that was the name of the song. Anyway, I digress. In the movie "Pi" (an AMAZING movie by the way) directed by Darren Aronofsky (who also directed "Requiem for a Dream") Maximillian Cohen (played by Sean Gullette also in "Requiem..." by the way) starts to see the Sequence everywhere. The Sequence is also known by the Greek letter Phi which is weird cause the movie was called Pi.
Just fascinating...

It's March Madness time! I, like many others out there, don't follow college hoops that much during the regular season but come March Madness all bets are off. I eNjoy following the Syracuse Orangemen and now I can listen to the Orangemen games online through the WAER 88.3 fm web site.
mmmmmm online broadcasts
Oh, and I despise protesters. No really - I hate them. They took to the streets last night and completely tied up traffic on Lakeshore Drive making it impossible to get anywhere. It took over an hour to get home from downtown last night. When traffic is light I can make that trip in less than 10 minutes. I'll rant about them later.
RESPECT OTHERS - JERKS!

They're heeeere!!
It's soooo wonderful! The Formac monitor and CD-RW and Airport card arrived and they all work! (Editor's Note: refer to the posting on 3.19.2003 for additional information) The monitor took all of 5 minutes to take out of the box and setup. I cannot begin to descibe how beautiful this monitor is. It looks bigger than it really is probably because its viewable size is 17.4 inches which is different than how CRT monitors are measured. Not to mention it also has a max resolution of 1280x1024. Amy's gonna love it when she sees it.
I'm burning all of the Mac stuff from the G4 onto CDs (with the firewire burner of course!) so that I can install OS 10.2 on it tonight. And to make things even better I'm posting this message from the iBook using the wireless airport card. Could things be better?
Actually, now that you mention it, Amy and I are moving to Oakbrook Terrace, a suburb about 15 miles west of Chicago. We'll be leaving Pensacola Place (and the city) on April 12th.... It's a bittersweet situation but I know I'm excited about it. We get a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment for $5 more than we are currently paying. Can't go wrong there. We'll throw a party after we get moved in - and you're all invited... hee hee

Whoa! CrAzY error with the message boards last night. My friend Tim posted to the General Discussion board last night anonymously (you really should join tastypopsicle - no really) and it busted the site. Had to do with how the userid was being stored. I think I got to the root of the problem, though.
New day today. I actually got up EARLY for a Saturday. Figured I'd try to get some stuff done before we head out to a birthday bash with Kristen and Cooper and Nathan for Alex's birthday. mmmmmmm booze hounds
so much to do so little time! and I still have to finish my anti-protesters rant. CURSES!
I've always like Sam's Wine and Spirits - you get good wines at discounted prices because of the power of buying in bulk. They're a big wine warehouse essentially. Well, now I love them even more. You can purchase beer online and they'll ship it to your house. Alcoholics around the world finally get DSL.
