Just a stupid joke in honor of it being the first day of April - April Fool's Day. The home page of tastypopsicle.com was translated into Norwegian using an online translator from freetranslation.com. I'm actually scraping the content back into the home page so that this is 100% real-time translation... which has got me thinking that I could probably make it so the WHOLE site can be translated into many languages. hmmmmm, thinking Here is a compiled list of many sites doing some fun stuff for today http://www.urgo.org/aprilfools.html Hope everyone is eNjoying their day! I realize that all of these numbers that identify us in some way derived from specific information about ourselves. Well, Alan De Smet has broken down the algorithm behind some of our state issued IDs (including good information for Illinois). He's created a program that can accurately tell you what your state ID is (or will be if you don't have one yet) based on your full name, gender, and date of birth. And if you input an ID it will tell you (with some guessing of course) what your name is most probably, but it WILL give your correct gender and date of birth. So... if you know someone's information you could, in theory, create a convincing fake ID. Alan's theory as to why these ID s are designed this way:

I'm not really sure why these numbers are designed so. A likely guess is that it allows a skilled bouncer to quickly identify sloppy fake ids.

Interesting... and after reading some more about Soundex code it became clear to me how someone can be so interested in deciphering these various codes. As for your Social Security number - unfortunately it's not as "cool" as your state ID. The Social Security Online site breaks the 9 numbers down like this:

The first three digits are the area number. The area number reflects the State as determined by the ZIP code in the mailing address on your application for the number. The middle two digits are the group number. They have no special geographic or data significance but merely serve to break the number into conveniently sized blocks for orderly issuance. The last four digits are serial numbers. They represent a straight numerical sequence of digits from 0001-9999 within the group.

Boring! And on an unrelated note - check out the website Subtly Simpsons that delves into just a small portion of the subtle allusions, social commentary, wit and vocabulary that you can find in every episode of the Simpson's. Seriously, you KNOW that the episodes are wrought with inside jokes and cultural references but I had no idea how deep they go. Cool stuff.

A suburban Chicago man pleaded guilty Monday to one count of copyright infringement for pirating Oscar screener copies of about 200 films including ''Kill Bill: Vol. 1'' and ''Seabiscuit.'' Russell William Sprague, 51, of south suburban Homewood, entered his plea before U.S. District Court Judge George King. He faces up to three years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced July 28. Sprague's arrest marked the first for pirating of special videotapes and DVDs that are supplied in advance to Academy Awards voters, federal agents said. Many of the screeners are of films that are in movie theaters or are still unreleased. Carmine Caridi, a 70-year-old actor who appeared in the ''The Godfather: Part II'' and the ABC series ''NYPD Blue,'' admitted he sent Sprague copies of several movies. He has not been charged. Caridi had been a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

So Pawtracker, the dog boarding, daycare, and grooming application that we, KennelSource, have built (hi Google!) is doing well. We just had an ABKA seminar in Madison, Wisconsin on Monday and Tuesday. Aside from some first-time conference "jitters" I think we had a good show. We got some useful feedback from most of the attendees and maybe, just maybe, we'll get something out of it. ;) Oh, congratulations to our friends Alex and Shaun on getting MARRIED last week! We're very happy for you two. The Apprentice is over (one less addicting thing for me to watch). It will be greatly missed on Thursday nights. I'm glad that Bill won, not just because I'm in Chicago but because I think he deserved it as much as Kwame probably did too. Bill Rancic will be working on the Trump Tower Chicago and overseeing the demolition of the Sun Times building downtown. If Bill is not a national celebrity he is certainly one here in Chicago and I believe he will be for some time. He's a wise man and he will go quite far in this city should he choose to remain here. And while we're on the subject of The Apprentice - most every one of the contestants seem to be doing well after the show. Take for instance Katrina Campins, Kristi Frank, Amy Henry and Ereka Vetrini - they've posed, in all their lingerie glory, on the cover and within the pages of May issue of FHM. Personally, I don't think that the girls are that hot but what I LOVE is that Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth wasn't even asked to pose. I swear, if she's in season two I will NOT watch the show. I believe I am not alone in my feelings. According to eonline.com:
