I've decided to open up the weblog archive. At one point is was closed off except to registered members due to an incident, However, that company has since closed its doors so they can just eat it. Use the search to find something that youmight be looking for. Maybe you'll find it.

Before I forget everything that happened this weekend I had better start this weblog at least - trust me, I will forget. It was a very interesting weekend to say the least. One filled with highs and lows of all sorts. I mean, it ended up being quite a fun weekend afterall even though it started on the wrong foot and it could have been really bad Sunday evening. BUT I'd have to say that I had a lot fun thanks in part to all of the kiddies:
Alex, Kristen, Cooper, Nathan, and my Amy!!

We went to electro-rock out in Valparaiso, Indiana. It was supposed to be a lot more than what it really was. None of the big acts were there like Goldie, or Pharcyde, or John Aquaviva. And to top it all off it ended at exactly 12midnight on Saturday!! You had people that traveled from all over now with nothing to do. We stuck around the camp area til almost 5.30a which ended up being really really cool. But still - we paid $36 for tickets and we didn't get nearly what we expected to.
These production companies are the ones that have killed the party scene. No one wants to go to parties any more because they're sick of getting ripped off every time.
Bah! I say!

In memoriam :: 9.11.2001
Today has been especially special and important to me. I got up this morning with Amy and I went to downtown with her on her way to work so that we could attend the memorial service at the Daley Center in the city of Chicago at 11:45am. It was a very nice memorial with prayers and singing from various people throughout the Chicago community. Amy took pictures (at the appropriate times of course). There were a lot of flags and a lot of people wearing flags and flag bandanas - all sorts of patriotic images and pictures. Here is the prayer that we all said during the memorial.
It's apparent that many of the television stations are running special programs - some are highlighting the lives of some of the people who died on that terrible day, others are talking to people who air traffic controllers who watched in horror from Newark, NJ control tower as the second plane hit the second tower. All of these loved ones who are remembering. One family had watched family movies the night before their son died in one of the towers - he was a 21 year old electrical apprentice.
It was wonderful to spend most of the day with Amy. We had lunch, and we talked and laughed together. It was great to know that we were safe together as we recalled where we were just one year ago. A year ago we sat in our apartment all day and watched, listed, learned, and hoped - together.
I will never ever forget that day. I will never forget where I was and who I was with. I hope none of you will ever forget that day.
Here are my thoughts from September 11, 2001

Lots of messages in the message boards - check them out.
What a CrAzY morning! I just got home like 20 minutes ago. Amy and I have been out all day worried about her mom and then we were at the grocery store for awhile. Now I'm at work and by work I mean home and by home I mean here.
Adventist has been interesting as usual. Something is seriously messed up with the web server. I dunno - hopefully we'll get it to 100% before too long.
Mark Farina and Gene Ferris TONIGHT @ Crobar. Come out if you can. $10 before 11.30p if you're on the list. I've got room for 5 more people on my list so let me know if you are interested. Should be a lot of fun with the House Music!! We'll see Nate, Jeremy, Tim, Cassie and whoever else. So get your drink on and have some fun cause it's Friday and you ain't got shit to do.
Big hello to a college friend of mine, Jody, in ATL aka. "Hot Lanta". It was great to hear from you yesterday and I really can't believe that you're actually going to be in Chi-town next week! mmmmmmmmm fun!

I feel soooo pretty now!

I got a much needed haircut this afternoon - much better now! Another busy week is under way. Adventist has kept me busy and it looks like I'll be heading out to Hinsdale for a meeting tomorrow afternoon. Big things could be in store for me - we'll have to wait and see though.
Tonight is the $5 movie night so we're going to see the double-feature of Men In Black II and Spiderman. We have yet to see either one, and for $2.50 a show, free small popcorn, and free parking, well, you just can't beat that in Chicago!
Weekend plans - Crobar on Saturday. Go to their web site and sign yourself and guest up for FREE admission before 11.30p on Satuday. DO IT!

I've got a new phone which means that I have a new number. My service provider is AT&T and I have the Ericsson T68. It's a sweet phone with even sweeter features - MUCH better than what PrimeCo is offering. ugghhhhhhhh
We got Monster's Inc. on DVD yesterday and we watched it last night. Such a good movie and cute too!! hee hee
And we're heading home to Syracuse for Christmas this year. We're very excited about it because that also means that we get to go to NYC for a few days. Thanks for letting us stay with you Ian. I hope we won't be in your way too much.

uggghhh I'm sitting here trying to add a post and this web browser, Mozilla, that I recommended either doesn't handle Java well OR the site that I was trying to visit was misusing those stupid Java applets. I'm inclined to think it's a little of both.
Anyway, yesterday it was good to see Kristen, Cooper, and then later in the evening Alex. Alex should be in L.A. by now where she's in the process of moving to. We decided to hang out on the south side yesterday to say our goodbyes. While we were down there we went to Panos for lunch, the thrift store to get some things, and then to China Doll where Amy and Alex each got their lip pierced. mmmmmmmmm sexy
I'm not one to get many things at the thrift store usually and this time was no exception. However, instead of getting some shirts I got a Casio Rapman with Voice Effector and the "Capsela 400" set - "The construction set of tomorrow". Each of these items were only $1.95 a piece! So how could I say no? The "Capsela MX Trooper" as it is now called is no longer manufactured under Play-Jour but rather by Educational Insights. And while I couldn't find this particular product on their web site I have found it elsewhere selling for $29.99 (named "Carsela" (sic) so I believe that it may actually be a typo). The Capsela set has all of the pieces as well as the original packaging (styrofoam hold as well) and the original documents. We tested it last night and it does indeed work - however crappily it may be, thus forcing me to rename the product "Crapsela".
I purchased the Rapman not only because of the price, but because it has a jack for a microphone as well as a line out jack. Some simple connections to my Mac and I have myself a "recording studio" - eh heeeeee! Watch out Moby!!

Been working on some new stuff for Adventist. They are looking for a sub-site for their physicians. I decided to go with a whole new approach - a site that only uses CSS and DHTML. That's Cascading StyleSheets and Dynamic HTML (Javascript with CSS essentially).
The layout is very simple and easy to adjust and change since the design is not bound by convetional HTML code (like tables for instance).
Take a look at my first pass at it and if you can figure out how to get the center content to be 100% of the page I would love to hear it. height=100% isn't working.
I've actually got it working the same in Internet Explorer and Mozilla which is an added bonus because I only need it to work in IE 5.0

I have an updated version of the Adventist site to show. There really isn't anything too much more different with this version than with the previous one but that doesn't mean that I didn't spend a lot of time on it and trying out many things only to scrap the ideas as they came along.
Pass #2 has a "breadcrumb" at the bottom of the page that will indicate where you are in the site. The "Printer friendly version" is functioning and you'll notice that I added some real stories.
As tumj found out - the other text is called Lorem Ipsum. It's used all the time when doing mock-ups in design and layout. That way you don't get caught up in the text and more often than not you don't even have the text when you're doing a design (like myself in this case) so you need SOMETHING to put in. What's really fun to do is do a search for Lorem Ipsum on google and see how many pages on the internet still have the dummy text in them. These people never bothered to remove these pages or text when their site was uploaded.
Also fixed a problem with Mozilla where it doesn't use cursor: hand; Apparently you have to use cursor: pointer; (?!) And in order for it to work correctly in IE and Mozilla you have to write cursor: hand; cursor: pointer; :: BOTH of them grrrrrrrrrrrr
I'm really diggin' Color Picker.
BMG looks to be sued over its involvement with Napster.

Rock Rock on! So I'm watching "The Screensavers" on TechTV right now cause I'm a dork. I actually tuned in because I'm also reading the newsletter that I receive everyday from them as well and it says that Steve Wozniak who help found Apple with Steve Jobs was going to be hosting the show with hacker legend Kevin Mitnick. And I was like "huh?!?" Here's the thing - they have a free download of the day every day and the download for today is called ieSpell. What it is is a spell checker for Internet Explorer! My prayers have been answered! Now when I post stuff on my site I can SPELL-CHECK it before I post it. It's sooooo easy to use too. Definitely check it out, cracka'!
If you decide to use it let me know by adding your comments. Because of this program I don't think I'll be using Mozilla as much any more - I NEED a spell checker. I need it so badly!
