ASP custom 404 error page
Ian Lloyd over at A List Apart wrote up an article on 16 January 2004 about creating a custom 404 error page ("Page cannot be found") using Javascript. On 21 January, Andrew Waer wrote a PHP example. So I wrote an ASP example based on the other two (mostly on the PHP one, though).
I won't bore you with the details as to WHY this is important. Read Ian's article for more information. What's nice is that I will be using this for my various needs as well. It's a win-win (who-cares) situation.
In case you'd like to see and use the code - I present to you my ASP custom 404 error page

custom 404 error pages Bryan Walls
When I tried the sample pages at http://www.keepingyouwell.com/ in Safari (on a Mac), I got a download of an ASP file. Not what I would expect, at all...

My host sucks ed knittel
@Bryan Wells: Yea, ummm... that's because the keepingyouwell.com website is being hosted down at our corporate office and they are slower than anything at changing the 404 Error page to my 404b.asp page. I mean, the changed it but the geniuses set the page type to file in IIS rather than URL. You'd think that they'd realize that it's an ASP page - so I ask "Why did you set it as file and not URL?" and "Why has it been a month already and you can'y make one simple change in IIS?" Pisses me off.

one phone call is all it takes ed knittel
Unfortunately, one call from me is not what it takes as I have made many, many phone calls with ZERO results. But FINALLY, I got a call from our corporate IS department in Orlando, FL to "see how things are going" (there are many bigger issues that they're getting heat for which is why he originally called). He left room for me to ask why they couldn't change my error page from type "file" to "URL" on the boxes. He jumped on them and literally had my ASP Custom 404 Error page working in less than 5 minutes. At the end of it he pondered aloud (as I have pondered) why no one had fixed it like I asked months ago. Any way, my badlink FINALLY works again! Ugggghhhhh my life is already a bit happier.

404 Error page Steven Woods
Hi, the script you have for the ASP 404 isn't using all the search engines specified in the array - you need to define the array so that i has 5 items (0,1,2,3,4) as opposed to the 4 you have in the script.
Just a heads up :-)

Good find ed knittel
Steven, thank you for bringing that error to my attention. I have now fixed the array so that it reads correctly.
